Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced MEP Engineer to join our team and manage a variety of municipal and school district projects, ranging from $1 million to $30 million. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on ground-up and tenant improvement (TI) construction projects. The MEP Engineer will travel to job sites, review blueprints, and collaborate with project teams to ensure quality control, cost efficiency, and timely project completion.
This position is best suited for a candidate with a strong background in K-12 school projects, who is familiar with broad commercial construction practices, and has a proven ability to manage MEP scopes for projects of varying sizes.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications for MEP systems.
Travel to job sites in the DFW area to monitor construction progress and ensure MEP systems are installed per project requirements.
Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and the design team to ensure proper coordination of MEP systems.
Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting related to MEP disciplines.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices.
Oversee quality control and ensure that all MEP installations meet design and safety standards.
Identify and resolve MEP-related issues that arise during the construction process.
Manage communications with school districts and municipal clients, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of project status and any MEP-related changes.
Perform site visits to ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an MEP Engineer, particularly in commercial or school district projects.
Strong understanding of MEP systems in both ground-up and TI projects.
Familiarity with municipal and school district project standards, preferably with experience in K-12 construction.
Ability to travel locally to job sites (primarily in DFW), with occasional day trips out of town.
Proven experience managing MEP budgets on projects ranging from $1 million to $30 million.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse project teams.
Proficient in reviewing blueprints and construction documents.
Experience working with project management software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or Construction Management.
Professional certifications or licenses in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing disciplines (preferred but not required).
Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
