Job Title: Estimator (Multifamily Construction)
Location: Portland, OR
Salary Range: $115,000 – $150,000 base (DOE) + bonus potential


About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Multifamily Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Portland, Oregon. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for ground-up and renovation multifamily projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of construction methods, local market conditions, and subcontractor pricing, along with the ability to collaborate closely with preconstruction and project management teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for multifamily construction projects
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive takeoffs
  • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations
  • Maintain and update historical cost data and estimating databases
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth handoff from preconstruction to operations
  • Track and evaluate project costs versus estimates to improve future accuracy

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of estimating experience in multifamily or commercial construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and sequencing
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience working in the Portland or Pacific Northwest market preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
