Our client is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join their growing construction team specializing in ground-up and renovation multifamily residential projects throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional looking to work alongside experienced Project Managers on high-profile apartment, mixed-use, and affordable housing developments.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to develop into a Project Manager while working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the planning and execution of multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
- Track project budgets, commitments, and cost reports.
- Assist with project scheduling and milestone tracking.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify coordination issues.
- Participate in owner, architect, and subcontractor meetings.
- Support procurement and buyout activities.
- Monitor project progress and help ensure schedule, quality, and safety objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate inspections, punch lists, and project closeout documentation.
- Build strong relationships with clients, design teams, and trade partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction.
- Experience with ground-up or renovation multifamily projects is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, and project management processes.
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar software is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Experience
- Wood-frame podium, Type III, Type V, or concrete multifamily projects.
- Affordable housing, mixed-use, or market-rate residential developments.
- Exposure to OSHPD/HCAI, prevailing wage, or public works projects is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $100,000–$120,000
