Safety Director

Location: Nationwide Travel
Our client is a leading national mechanical contractor delivering complex commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the United States. They are seeking an experienced Safety Director to provide senior-level leadership across major construction operations.
This is a full-time traveling position. The Safety Director will be expected to regularly visit active project sites across the country, spending at least a few days per week on a jobsite and visiting a minimum of one project site each week. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior safety professional who enjoys being in the field and working directly with project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee safety programs across major commercial and industrial construction projects
- Travel nationally to active project sites and provide hands-on safety leadership
- Spend several days each week in the field, with a minimum of one jobsite visit per week
- Establish and maintain project-specific safety plans, procedures, and standards
- Partner with Project Executives, PMs, Superintendents, and field leadership to identify and mitigate jobsite risks
- Conduct site audits, inspections, incident investigations, and safety reviews
- Lead safety training, toolbox talks, and continuous safety improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and project-specific requirements
- Monitor safety performance, trends, and leading/lagging indicators
- Coach and develop field safety personnel and project teams
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization
Requirements:
- 12+ years of construction safety experience
- Proven experience managing safety for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects
- Experience with projects valued at $20M+
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
- Previous experience supporting multiple active projects and traveling to jobsites
- Comfortable spending significant time in the field
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally on a full-time basis
