Traveling MEP Project Manager II

Our client is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager II to join their team on large-scale, technically complex construction projects throughout the United States.

This is a traveling position designed for a strong Project Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of major MEP scopes, working closely with field leadership, trade partners, owners, and project teams, and managing projects from preconstruction through completion.

Candidates coming from a large electrical contractor are highly preferred, particularly those who have managed significant electrical scopes on complex commercial, industrial, healthcare, manufacturing, mission-critical, or other technically demanding projects.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the project management of major MEP scopes on large-scale construction projects
  • Manage project budgets, financial projections, cost tracking, billing, and change management
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and design professionals
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Manage procurement and tracking of major equipment and long-lead materials
  • Participate in preconstruction, design coordination, and project planning
  • Monitor project schedules and work with field leadership to maintain project milestones
  • Identify project risks and develop solutions to keep work moving
  • Lead project meetings and maintain strong client and trade-partner relationships
  • Support quality, safety, commissioning, startup, and closeout activities
  • Mentor and provide leadership to APMs, Project Engineers, and other project staff

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of construction project management experience
  • Strong background with an electrical contractor, mechanical contractor, or GC
  • Large-project experience with $20M+ project budgets or scopes
  • Strong understanding of electrical and/or MEP construction
  • Experience managing projects through multiple phases from preconstruction through closeout
  • Experience with project financials, scheduling, procurement, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and subcontractor/vendor management
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively with both field and office teams
  • Willingness to travel extensively and spend extended periods on project sites
  • Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related degree preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered
