Project Engineer – Multifamily & Commercial Construction

Location: Seattle, WA
Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our construction team in Seattle. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a career in multifamily and commercial construction and gain hands-on experience supporting projects from preconstruction through completion.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, and consultants to help ensure projects are organized, on schedule, within budget, and built to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the day-to-day administration and coordination of construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documents.
  • Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs, submittals, and project correspondence.
  • Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain project logs, schedules, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Assist with change orders, purchase orders, invoices, and cost tracking.
  • Review subcontractor invoices and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and ownership teams as needed.
  • Participate in project meetings and help track action items and deliverables.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to understand project progress and assist with field coordination.
  • Help identify potential schedule, cost, quality, and coordination issues.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
  • Support closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, and final documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of construction, engineering, or project coordination experience preferred; strong recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Interest in multifamily, commercial, or ground-up construction.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Willingness to spend time both in the office and on active construction sites.
