About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our commercial construction team in the Dallas–Fort Worth market. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented estimating professional who understands commercial electrical construction, can accurately develop competitive bids, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing estimates and proposals for commercial electrical projects ranging from tenant improvements and ground-up construction to large-scale commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret electrical plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Develop accurate, competitive estimates and bid proposals for commercial electrical projects.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and potential project risks.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to identify opportunities and potential cost impacts.
- Work closely with project managers, operations, vendors, and clients throughout the estimating process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews as needed.
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records.
- Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions when appropriate.
- Track market pricing, labor conditions, and material costs within the DFW market.
- Support turnover of awarded projects to the project management and operations teams.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of electrical estimating experience, preferably within commercial construction.
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
- Experience estimating projects such as office, retail, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, multifamily, education, or other commercial facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and industry standards.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating projects in the DFW commercial construction market.
- Electrical contractor or specialty subcontractor estimating experience.
- Experience with estimating platforms such as Accubid, McCormick, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar software.
- Experience with large-scale commercial projects and negotiated work.
- Established relationships with electrical suppliers and subcontractors in the North Texas market.
