Projects may include mission critical, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, semiconductor, industrial, large commercial, and other high profile facilities.

The successful candidate should have experience managing substantial mechanical packages, coordinating large field teams, working closely with general contractors and owners, and controlling cost, schedule, procurement, subcontractors, and project risk from preconstruction through closeout.

Responsibilities

• Manage large mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final turnover

• Take ownership of HVAC, piping, plumbing, equipment, and related mechanical scopes valued at $40M and above

• Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, commitments, change orders, billing, contingency, and overall financial performance

• Partner with field leadership on manpower planning, sequencing, productivity, logistics, and project execution

• Coordinate closely with General Contractors, owners, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal leadership

• Lead procurement of major mechanical equipment, piping systems, fixtures, fabricated assemblies, and long lead materials

• Manage RFIs, submittals, change management, project documentation, and schedule impacts

• Participate in preconstruction, estimating handoff, constructability reviews, scope development, and project planning

• Develop and maintain project schedules, procurement schedules, and milestone tracking

• Coordinate complex HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, process piping, mechanical equipment, and specialty systems

• Work closely with BIM, VDC, engineering, prefabrication, and fabrication teams

• Identify cost, schedule, procurement, manpower, and constructability risks early

• Manage subcontractors and suppliers while maintaining accountability around schedule, quality, and commercial obligations

• Lead owner and project meetings and communicate clearly regarding progress, risk, cost, schedule, and upcoming decisions

• Support commissioning, startup, testing, punch list, turnover, and project closeout

• Maintain strong safety and quality expectations throughout project execution

• Travel nationwide based on project needs

Candidates with experience managing mechanical scopes exceeding $40M will be particularly well aligned.

Qualifications

• Project Manager or Senior Project Manager experience with a commercial or industrial mechanical contractor

• Strong background in HVAC, piping, plumbing, or integrated mechanical construction

• Experience managing large and technically complex mechanical scopes

• Strong financial management and forecasting ability

• Experience managing procurement, subcontractors, vendors, and field execution

• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, specifications, coordination, and installation requirements

• Experience with Design Build and Design Assist delivery preferred

• Comfortable working closely with BIM, VDC, engineering, fabrication, and field leadership

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in high pressure project environments

• Strong communication and client management skills

• Willingness and ability to travel nationwide for project assignments

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has already managed large mechanical scopes and understands the difference between running a conventional commercial project and leading a highly complex mechanical package.

They are comfortable with large field organizations, demanding schedules, major equipment procurement, fabrication, coordination, commissioning, and owner expectations.

They understand how to protect margin while maintaining client relationships and project momentum.

They are also comfortable living where the work is and view nationwide travel as part of the opportunity rather than an inconvenience.
