Mechanical Construction Project Manager
Location: Denver, Colorado
Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 Base Salary + Bonus and Full Benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager to oversee commercial and industrial mechanical projects throughout the Denver market. This individual will manage projects from preconstruction and turnover through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
The ideal candidate has experience managing HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal scopes for a mechanical contractor. This position requires strong financial management, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout
- Oversee HVAC, hydronic piping, plumbing, process piping, and sheet metal scopes
- Develop project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, and manpower plans
- Manage project financials, including cost reports, billing, change orders, and cash flow
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, equipment selections, and procurement schedules
- Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership
- Partner with superintendents and foremen to maintain productivity, quality, and schedule commitments
- Identify project risks and develop solutions before they affect cost or schedule
- Manage equipment and material procurement, including long-lead items
- Lead project meetings and provide clear updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Support startup, testing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and turnover
- Maintain compliance with company safety and quality standards
- Build lasting client relationships and help identify repeat-business opportunities
- Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers as needed
Qualifications
- At least five years of mechanical construction experience
- Previous experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager with a mechanical contractor
- Strong understanding of commercial or industrial HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal systems
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and change orders
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and coordination documents
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, P6, or similar construction software preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience will also be considered
- Established relationships within the Denver construction market are a plus
Preferred Project Experience
Experience managing one or more of the following project types is preferred:
- Healthcare and laboratory facilities
- Data centers and mission-critical facilities
- Advanced manufacturing and industrial projects
- Commercial office and mixed-use developments
- Higher education and institutional facilities
- Hospitality and multifamily developments
- Central utility plants and large mechanical infrastructure projects
